Some experts say that it takes one day to recover from each hour in time change when flying from one location to another. So, if Paris is 6 hours ahead of your time zone like it is in New York, that means it would take you almost a week to recover from your jet lag!
I went to the experts to find out how they solve jet lag. I consulted with a Delta flight attendant who has over 20 years of experience in flying to Europe. She flies to Europe over 40 times per year and claims she NEVER suffers from jet lag.
There are a lot of remedies to jet lag out there. I can assure you, I have tried this method and it has worked.
- Sleep in your own comfortable bed as late as you can until you need to leave for the airport.
- Take a nap of about an hour or two on the plane.
- Have no more than 1 or 2 alcoholic beverages during the flight.
- Drink plenty of water on the flight.
- When you arrive in Paris, grab something to eat, go to your hotel and try to nap again for a couple of hours.
- When you awaken, get right on Paris time. For instance, if you normally eat dinner at 7 p.m. at home, eat dinner at 7 p.m. in Paris. If you regularly retire at 11 p.m. at home, go to bed at 11 p.m. in Paris.
