The Hôtel de Fleurie is a small, boutique hotel located on the left bank in the Saint Germain area of Paris.

I first visited the Fleurie about nine years ago and it was on my first solo trip to Paris.  I was in the quiet loft on the top floor which made me feel a bit bohemian to be single and free in Paris.

The 3-star hotel is family owned.   More specifically, it is located 32 rue Grégoire de Tours, a quiet side street off boulevard St. Germain.   It is within very easy walking distance to the Odeon metro station with access to the #4 and #10 metro lines.  Although there is much to say about this hotel, one of its best features is its location.   Going down rue Grégoire de Tours across boulevard St. Germain leads to rue Buci, one of my favorite streets in Paris.   Located here is a small market, plenty of restaurants, a supermarket, a wine store, a Taschen book store, cafés, boulangeries, a gelato shop, and a salon de thé that serves an American-style breakfast if you so desire.   The hotel is also an easy walk to Ile de la Cite, the Cluny museum, St. Sulpice, and Luxemborg Gardens.

The hotel itself is kept immaculately clean.   Like I said, I first visited this hotel about nine years ago and I was impressed with it then.   Nine years later it looks like the owners have invested in keeping the hotel up to standards.  The place looks fresh, bright, and inviting.  It is well decorated.   The rooms themselves are of typical size in Paris – in other words, cruise-ship size.   However, they do have connecting rooms which is great if traveling with family.   Upon walking in a room at the Fleurie, you might feel that it has been freshly decorated and renovated just for you.   The bathrooms are gleaming and almost American-sized.   Although probably not needed, the hotel is air-conditioned.   Wi-Fi access is available.
Rates for a single are listed as 215 euros for a single, 320 for a double, and 435 for a triple, family room.  However, through their website, discounts of about 45% off these prices are available.  I checked on Expedia.Com for a reservation from March 1-4 and received a quote of $245 a night for a double room.   However, a friend of mine who did reserve through Expedia claims the hotel had no record of the reservation when he showed up.   The Fleurie, however, did honor the Expedia reservation.

The downstairs lounge is comfortable.   There is a bar, free Internet access, and coffee is always available.     I had the opportunity to speak with a few other guests of the hotel.  I was not surprised to find out that they previously stayed at the Fleurie which is probably one of the best endorsements a hotel can have.

My criticisms of the Fleurie are minor.   There is no skyline view of Paris.   The place is too small to accept reservations of groups.   The breakfasts are nothing to write home about.   And I think the staff could be a tiny bit friendlier – a smile here or there never hurt anyone.

But all in all, I would jump at the chance to stay at the Hôtel de Fleurie again.  It is a place that has hosted many a honeymoon couple.   And I am sure that many of those honeymoon couples have returned years later with their families.

Edit Re: Hotel Review - Hôtel de Fleurie

Bonjour,

My husband took me to this lovely hotel for my 50th birthday in 2005, we loved it!

The hotel staff was extremely pleasant to my husband who speaks no french except for the major words non, oui etc., and were very tolerant of my Canadian french.

We had the nicest room on the street side with 2 windows looking out over Paris rooftops and really interesting windows on the building across the street.

The location is the best part, really close to everything.

I dream of going back to Paris and will be staying at the Hotel de Fleurie.

We bought a poster from the hotel which hangs in my "Paris" bedroom at home, making all my memories come back.

The Paris Video Blog - Pere Lachaise Cemetery
Paris' Pere Lachaise Cemetery is one of the most visited burial places in the world.  It is the final vacation spot for such luminaries as Rossini and Chopin, Simone Signoret and Yves Montand, Edith Piaf, Marcel Proust, Alice B. Toklas and Gertrude Stein, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Max Ernst, Isadora Duncan and many more.   It is certainly worth a visit.  But if you can't get there right away, take a look at this video.
