We took advantage of the clear but cool weather to tour Paris and head over to the Arc de Triomphe.  It is a pleasure to travel at this time of year because the crowds are thin but the weather is good.    It is a spectacular view of the city from atopt the giant arch.

We decided to stroll down the grand Champs Elysees for a few blocks before getting on the metro to the Louvre.    The Champs Elysees reminds me in a way of Times Square in New York.   There are exotic stores, plenty of restaurants, and lots of flashy cars and plenty of people.

Over at the biggest museum in the world, the Louvre, of course we saw da Vinci's Mona Lisa.   We spent some time at the famous Victory of Samothrace sculpture, also known as Winged Victory or Nike (the statue was the inspiration for the Nike "swoosh").   Travelers were impressed with the massive "Crowning of Napoleon" painting and the sculptures, including the armless Venus de Milo.   The Louvre just contains miles and miles of artwork, impossible to be seen in only a day.  However, with some good planning, we were able to see the highlights.
