We are so close to Notre Dame that we could easily walk to it in just a few minutes. But everyone wanted to see how the metro works so we took the short ride over there. We visited the towers and saw the stained glass windows. We also did the tour of the stained glass windows of St. Chapelle. Some compared the beauty of St. Chapelle to that of the Sistine Chapel in Rome and came away with a new-found appreciation of this French church.
It was fun to go over to the Conciergerie and see the old prison's display of the relics of the French Revolution including a once-used guillotine blade and then the cell of Marie Antoinette.
After a lunch stop where some of us picknicked in the gardens of the Cathedral of Notre Dame, we took the quick ride over to the small but impressive l'Orangerie Museum where Monet's original Water Lillies are beautifully displayed. There is also a collection of very impressive Impressionist art in the lower level of this museum.
We all enjoyed a Welcome Dinner together then an hour long cruise down the Seine with the Eiffel Tower twinkling in the moonlight. Some of our travelers were literally brought to tears - this was a place they have dreamed about coming to for years - and they were not disappointed.

On our last small group tour of Italy, about half the group (4 of us) took a 2-day extension of the trip to Venice. It exceeed my expectations in that it is more romantic than I could have possibly imagined. Venice is one of those unique places on earth because it really is a city built into the sea.
