As mentioned, most travelers took the opportunity to stroll around the city in the morning.   However, at 1 p.m., our driver, Leonardo (yes, Leonardo) picked up the group in a late-model Mercedes van for a 6-hour tour through the Tuscan/Chianti region and an opportunity to visit some of the smaller villages and towns and to do a wine tasting at a local winery.

I like booking this trip for our travelers because the van can go to places and see things that those big bus tours simply can't get to.   For instance, when we visited a small village, we were able to pull right into the middle of the village instead of parking outside with the large tour busses, even if the tour busses were able to go where we went.   We were also able to ask Leonardo to pull over for a scenic view or stay at certain towns longer if we wished.

It was truly a relaxing day, and boy did we need it!

Italy Video Blog: Romantic Venice
On our last small group tour of Italy, about half the group (4 of us) took a 2-day extension of the trip to Venice.   It exceeed my expectations in that it is more romantic than I could have possibly imagined.   Venice is one of those unique places on earth because it really is a city built into the sea.
