It was a beautiful day to walk, and walk we did. Our first stop was the Roman market at Campo di Fiori. Who says 11 a.m. is too early for a slice of pizza? Not me. After that we walked over to the Piazza Navona and took in the crowd around the famous Four Rivers fountain. There are plenty of tourists here in Rome but we don't feel too crowded.
Over at the Pantheon, we had an appetizer of some of the best gelato in the world before sitting down for some lunch. Pizza again? Si!
Over at the Trevi Fountain everyone threw a coin over their shoulder, guaranteeing their return to Rome. The Spanish Steps were a challenge for some, but the view is incredible.
We had one of those classic Italian family style meals tonight. Salad, lentils, cheese, fresh tomatoes. Pork and beef was the main dish washed down with some of that authentic jug wine. A dolce for dessert was perfect.
While walking home we were hit by a shower, but that did not dampen the spirits of our travelers.

On our last small group tour of Italy, about half the group (4 of us) took a 2-day extension of the trip to Venice. It exceeed my expectations in that it is more romantic than I could have possibly imagined. Venice is one of those unique places on earth because it really is a city built into the sea.
