It truly is a beautiful day to be out touring this Eternal City of Rome. A perfect place to start is with the ancient Colosseum, home of the gladiators. Our travelers gives this attraction a "thumbs up" this time as we enter through the VIP entrance and start our tour immediately. Even after 2,000 years, this arena is still impressive.
Next to the Colosseum is the Roman Forum. Much of it is gone but I help our travelers imagine what is was like at the height of the Roman Empire. The center of Rome was covered in white marble. Temples to Caesar, Saturn and the Vestal Virgins stood majestically. There is the rostrum where emperors and common citizens alike asked for Romands to lend them their ears.
It is a long day and by the end of the day, our travelers have a gladiator-sized appetite. After relaxing on the veranda at our hotel in central Rome, we take a chariot over to the restaurant and enjoy a Roman buffet salad of cheeses, roasted peppers, artichokes eggplant, olives, and more. We follow it up with pastas, pizzas, osso bucco. A stroll under the Roman lights is the perfect way to end the day and start to think about the great week that we have upon us.

VIP entrances, chariot rides and strolls under the Roman lights certainly put a smile onto my face as well as giving me a mirror of what to expect come March!
