Here are some of my favorite wine bars in Paris:
Bistrot Melac, 42 rue Léon Frot, 11th. Métro: Charonne
Since 1938 people have been discovering little-know wines from the Languedoc and Loire regions here. The menu features foods from the Aveyron region, famous for its cheeses. Website: http://www.melac.fr/pages/english.html
Racines, Passage des Panoramas, 2nd. Métro: Grands Boulevards
Located in an enclosed passageway, this relatively new wine bar features organic wines. Open weekdays. Website: http://www.paris-update.com/restaurants/racines.htm
L’Ecluse, 15, quai des Grands Augustins, 6th. Métro: St-Michel
This wine bar offers delectable wines with simple, seasonal cuisine. They boast that over 600,000 glasses of Bordeaux are served annually here. There are also four other locations. Website: http://www.leclusebaravin.com/us/lecluse_1.htm
Le Baron Bouge, 1, rue Théophile Roussel, 12th. Métro: Ledru-Rollin
This is what comes to mind when you think “Bar à Vins”. It is filled with market traders and flea market shoppers during the day. At night, the young, hip crowd comes alive.
Taverne Henri IV, 13 place du Pont-Neuf, 1st. Métro: Cité or Pont-Neuf
Conveniently located near the most popular tourist sites on the tip of Île de la Cité, it is a quiet spot for some good wines and relaxation.
