Considering:

  • Most flights from the U.S. to Paris are overnight flights.
  • For a good portion of the year, there is at least a 6 hour time difference between the U.S. and Paris. For instance, if it is 8 a.m. in Paris, it is 2 a.m. in New York.
  • Today’s air travel environment is exhausting, stressful, and uncomfortable.

This all adds up to a serious case of jet lag for some travelers.

I have an acquaintance who is an international flight attendant, and this is her advice to assuage jet lag:

  • Sleep in your own comfortable bed as late as possible until it is time to leave for the airport.
  • Take a nap of about an hour or two on the plane.
  • Have no more than 1 or 2 alcoholic beverages during the flight.
  • Drink plenty of water on the flight.
  • Upon arriving in Paris, grab something to eat, go to the hotel and try to nap again for a couple of hours.
  • Upon awakening, get right on Paris time. For instance, if you normally eat dinner at 7 p.m. at home, eat dinner at 7 p.m. in Paris. If you regularly retire at 11 p.m. at home, go to bed at 11 p.m. in Paris.

I must say that generally I’m really impressed with this article. If you go to Paris you could check the Paris subway system for traveling within Paris city. Also check the Paris travel guide when planning your trip.
Keep up the great work and I’ll return for more! Cheers!

I found your post very super. If you are flying to Paris you can check the Paris airports for transfer to Paris guide and general information. If your destination is Charles de Gaulle Airport check the airport tranfser to Paris solutions. The fastest and cheapest transfer solution is using the RER train line B (Blue)
Keep up the good work and I’ll return for more! Cheers!

So what if let's say I leave New York at 2pm and get to Paris in (not sure how long it takes but...) let's say in 10 hours so Midnight New York time. In Paris time it's going to be 6am.

By the time I get to my hotel it's going to be time to wake up :) What do I do then? Pretty sure I'm gonna be pretty darn jet lagged no matter what I do.

Great article none the less. :)

Best Regards,
