To be quite honest, I have never bid on a hotel in Paris using Priceline.Com. I like to stay in smaller, non-business hotels while in Paris and Priceline usually does not use those types of places. However, in London and in many cities in the U.S. like Baltimore, Annapolis, Washington, L.A., Vegas and San Francisco, Priceline hotels are perfectly acceptable for me. But before I even bid, I know what hotels are available and how much I will pay. The secret is to use a website called www.biddingfortravel.com. On the website, posters list their bids on hotels and whether they were successful or not. For instance, someone just posted that they bid $137 and won a stay at the 4-star Concorde St. Lazare Hotel. I have stayed at this hotel and I can tell you it is a nice hotel in a good location. When I went to the hotel website, the best deal I could get is $185 – that’s about a 25% discount. Please note that Priceline will also add in some fees.
Like I said, the deals in Paris are usually not so good. But by doing my research I recently got a room at the Westin Hotel in Annapolis, Maryland for $54 a night. Others who stayed in the same type of room as I did paid $225. BiddingForTravel.Com posters claim they got the Copthorne Tara Kensington for $68. The 5* Grosvenor House was had for $140. These really are amazing deals.
Priceline.Com does not accept bids for car rentals in Europe. However, you can try their European site, www.priceline.co.uk but I do not know of the European equivalent of www.biddingfortravel.com.
