Professor, my wife and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in Paris next month. I would love to go to a restaurant like Alain Ducasse at the Plaza Athenee or l'Arpge, but those places can run about $1,000 for two.Can you recommend a romantic restaurant that won't break the bank? We will be visiting Paris with our 14-year old daughter from Dec. 25-31. I have heard that museum visits are free for children/teenagers. Is that correct? My husband and I will be taking our 2nd trip to Paris starting Dec 28th 2009. We have heard that visiting the Palace of Versailles in the winter can be beautiful. We have visited the palace during our 1st trip but are thinking of a return visit. Would you recommend this?

We will be living in Paris for 3 months and are concerned about problems with using US swipe credit cards in a country with chip cards. We have heard swipe cards cannot be used at kiosks, toll booths, metro ticket machines, etc. although stores and restaurants will take them. Any advice? Is it possible to buy a pre-paid car...

What do you recommend for longer stays in Paris. I need to be there for about a month and I find that even the most economical hotels are too expensive for that length of time.

I'm a student who will be studying abroad in Paris next semester. Do you have any idea if it would be smarter for me to bring a hair dryer or if I should purchase one over there? I don't know if those are normal priced as they are here, or if they're more expensive over there.
